Description
A charming version of the conventional A-Z picture book, this compilation features large, friendly photographic portraits of animals, each one introduced by its own letter of the alphabet. Accompanied by simple rhymes, the words are designed for younger children to understand, or for older ones to read by themselves. A wide variety of species is presented, from familiar pets, for example, the domestic dog, to the more exotic, such as the unau (Linnaeus two-toed sloth).
The images were taken by the author over many years and many countries during the course of her professional photographic career. Travelling around the world, she managed to acquire a large collection of portraits in the course of other assignments. Many of the animals were photographed in their natural habitats, while others resided in sympathetic zoo environments. Fond of the creatures she has recorded, this collection includes some of Ethel’s favourites.
